How We Work

Quality Custom Cabinetry Since 1992

Old Goats Hard Goods is not your average cabinetry and hardware store – and neither is our approach. Our studios are designed to highlight both the products we carry and how people use and live with them. We like to sit down and fully understand your style and how you need your custom kitchen and bathroom cabinets to function. To that end, our approach is an integrated one, working with you and your team from start to finish.

What to Expect

  1. Initial Meeting: We uncover preferences, styles, colors, Houzz and Pinterst boards and you’ll probably even end up telling us about your pets (and possibly meet ours – our gentle Bernese Mountain Dog, Cally, is a showroom fixture). We want to understand as much as we can about you, how you live in your house, and how we can help make your spaces as functional as possible. We’ll send you a survey to help compile this in a concise manner so we can review and be ready for the next step.

  2. The Visit: We can absolutely do this part remotely with modern technology, but as much as possible we like this to take place in our design studio. This is our chance to meet you (officially) and start to pull together your design inspirations with cabinet styles and colors. We’ll talk about things like finishes, drawer sizzle (yep – it’s a thing), and flow. It’s important to have a kitchen that is both functional and fits your style.

  3. The Presentation: This is the fun part. We take all of your input and combine it with the expertise of our team to create your perfect space. It is a process, so we work through two revisions as needed (or more if budget allows) to get it right. At the end of this step, you have final drawings and a really good idea for what things will look and feel like, and how your cabinets will work.

  4. The  Order: We’ll perform the CTO (confirm to order) to ensure the actual space matches what is shown on the plans. At this point, we have everything finalized. We collect the deposit and place the order. We’ll let you know that everything is processed and when you can expect the cabinets. When the cabinets arrive, we’ll collect the second payment and confirm the install date.

  5. The Install: Artistry meets actuality. Our talented team of installers has been doing this for years and helps bring everything together. They inspect every cabinet before it gets installed to make sure everything is up to our standard. When we’re done, you’ll be ready for the Instagram posts.

  6. The Follow-up: We’ll follow-up in 30 days to make sure everything is working as it’s supposed to. We want to be sure you’re happy with the final product and feel confident to recommend us to your friends and family. We aim to make this entire process a great experience and will check in regularly throughout to ensure that it is.
